Activities > Llama breeding
Should you be thinking of buying a llama - just as a pet, to graze and grace your land, for brush clearance or for trekking - we could offer you a suitable one, depending upon availability of course.
Before deciding, however, you need to bear in mind that:
The llama is a gregarious animal - it will not be happy on its own.
It needs a fair amount of space (maximum three to five animals per hectare - 1ha = ca 2.5 acres) with fresh water and food readily available.
You should trim its toenails whenever necessary, brush it regularly and have it shorn every two years.
It goes without saying that you should also take into account the universal declaration of animal rights!
If you are ready to go along with all that or if you would like more information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
What can a llama do for you?
It can serve as a pack animal for trekking (it carries your rucksack and supplies). It can clear brush on your land (better than a goat). It can guard your herds (sheep in particular). It supplies excellent fertilizer. It provides wool or fibre for spinning, weaving or felting.
At the moment we have one animal for sale :
- 1 classic young male (Vivo) born 08/2006

and others to come, to be weaned by early 2007 ( reservations welcome ).
All our animals have microchips for identification: they have been vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms, and registered with the French national organization, the «Bergerie nationale de Rambouillet» and the Llama and Alpaca Registries Europe (www.lareu.org).

Do contact us for any advice - we can give you many «good tips» on how to care for and train your llama under the best possible conditions.
